DLP NIRscan EV: Only 3 buttons displayed in the Homepage

Dear TI community,

After powering-up and getting to the homepage, the Download Scan Data Files and the Slow Scan buttons are missing. I am using Win 7 and Chrome.

I made no other installation than the RNDIS driver

Are you able to take a regular scan? Is the SW/FW on your EVM completely up to date?

Thanks, I installed DLPR350PROM-3.0.0. How shall I check for SW/FW versions?

Scans function but only in the 1350-2050 nm range

Hi Frederic,

I think the issue is that the NIRScan EVM is not compatible with the newest version of the DLPR350 FW, you need v2.0. Do you have a copy of that FW you can load onto your device?

Thanks Paul,

Seems like only a V3 is available online. I did get a CD-Rom with the
device but I believe these are Linux softwares.

Where can I find that FW?

Frederic,

Version 3.0 of the DLPC350 firmware should work with the NIRscan Application software v2.x. The NIRscan Application software requires v2.x or greater of the DLPC350 firmware.

Just to summarize,

The software for the NIRscan application is available at this page. Scroll to the bottom under Available Versions. There are two versions one for Windows PC and one for Linux PC. Follow the directions in Appendix C of the User's Guide. Appendix C.1 shows how to create the SD card for a Windows PC.
The firmware for the DLPC350 is available at this page. Download the DLPR350PROM_V3.0. Follow the steps in Appendix C.3 to upgrade the DLPC350 firmware.

Thanks for your answer.

Following Appendix C.1, I managed to create a SD card that was renamed 'BEAGLE BONE' and contains 2.19 Mb of files.

Then, I tried to follow Appendix C.3 but there is no reaction (GUI not displaing) )when plugging the device (point 4).

The C:\Texas Instruments-DLP folder contains the following:

DLPLCR4500GUI-2.0.0

DLPR350PROM-3.0.0

NIRscan_2.0.0

Sorry for the long delay. When following appendix C.3, you're not able to get the GUI to open? In the DLPLCR4500GUI-2.0.0 folder, is there a .exe file that you can click on? I would also recommend that you download the latest GUI from the DLPLCR4500EVM page.

It is good that you can create the SD card - once you can connect to the GUI, things should go smoothly.

In the DLPLCR4500GUI-2.0.0 folder, LightCrafter4500 is the only available .exe (others are application extensions).

Still no reaction when plugging in, any idea?

Hi Frederic,

Please accept my apologies - it's been a while on this issue and I would like to clarify where we stand:

Right now, if you click on Lightcrafter4500.exe to run it and then plug in your NIRscan EVM, the GUI does not recognize that there is a connected device?

No, it doe snot. Either by launching DLPLCR4500GUI-3.0.1 or DLPLCR4500GUI-2.0.
The Sd card is on the device

Okay, two more basic questions.

1. Are you using the right USB port to access the DLPC350 and use the LCr4500 GUI? It should be mini-USB connector that is directly across unit from the lamp. Consult the user's guide to make sure.

2. Have you tried a different (ideally shorter) USB cable? I've had issues with my unit where the USB cable causes issues. If you have one which is high quality and short, you may have better results.

I managed to finish C.3 and the DLPR350PROM_v2.0.0.bin was updated by the GUI,
I now must follow C.2, is that correct?

Now, I cannot go beyond 5. since led D1 + D2 are not flashing on/off.

What do you advise me to do?

Hi Frederic,

Glad that you were able to the get the DLPC350 firmware updated. Once the firmware was updated, did you try normal operation again and see if the buttons showed up as you expect?

If things are still not working as expected, I would indeed go to reloading the application software as directed in C.2
Sometimes, issues can be caused by the SD card. Can you try another one or try the process in C.1 again?
