DLPNIRNANOEVM: dlpnitnanoevm

Part Number: DLPNIRNANOEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC150

Sirs:

When I attempt a scan the yellow led blinks, the light does not come on, and I get the error message "scan failed"

I have used a powered hub with no success.

When I attempt a reference scan the same thing happens.

So far, I am not impressed with the accuracy of the user manual. When I clicked on the sub categories under 2.1 it downloaded to the wrong revisions. Which led me to accidentally erase the calibration eprom. Nor am I impressed with the customer service.

  • Hi Bill,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the DLP forums. My apologies for the difficulties that you're having with the NIRscan Nano EVM, I hope that we can get them sorted out promptly for you.

Let me start with some troubleshooting questions:

    1. When did you purchase your Nano?

    2. Has the Nano worked at any point since you've been using it? If so, how long did it work for and did anything change between when it worked and when it didn't?

    3. Can you please confirm that all connectors and cables are properly plugged in and seated on the device?

    4. Which versions of the GUI/ TIVA SW / DLPC150 FW are you using?

As far as the customer service, I am sorry that you haven't been adequately assisted until now, but you're in the right place and we'll get it all sorted out.

    Best,
    Paul
  • Paul,
    Thanks,
    1. The unit was shipped on 09/29/2017.
    2. The unit has never worked.
    3. The only connection is the usb. The unit does communicate. The yellow light comes on when I click on scan. The illuminating light never comes on. I have tried it on one computer running windows 10 and one running windows 8.1. I have tried it with a powered usb hub with 3 amp power source.
    4. DLPR150PROM-2.0.0-windows.

    Thanks,
    Bill
  • Paul,
I tried a different usb cable and the unit gave me a scan. Looks like I need to throw away a cable.
Sorry for inconvenience, and thank you.

I ran a harvest crew in the 50's. 9 times out of 10 when a machine would not start, the operator had failed to turn on the switch. most of the rest of the time it was a bad connection.

Thanks again, and have a nice day!

    Bill
  • Hi Bill,

Glad that you got it figured out. A high quality USB cable is a definite must for this system. Please come back to E2E if you have more questions in the future.

    Best,
    Paul
  • Paul,

Thanks again. For your information, The usb cable functions on other applications. It also functions bidirectionally on the spectrometer as indicated by the fact that the spectrometer receives data from the computer and the computer receives data from the spectrometer. It only fails when the light source is turned on during the scan.  It appears that there is a resistive connection or resistive cable in the usb cable that failed.

    Thanks again,

    Bill
