DLPNIRSCANEVM Ethernet comunications

I just received our NIRSCANEVM. We have available a laptop running Windows 7 professional. Attaching the unit with USB results in a "driver not installed" message. Searching for drivers results in "not found". Also, internet connection is not possible for the laptop due to company restrictions. Connecting the laptop to NIR with Ethernet cable results in "no Ethernet available" message after http://192.168.0.10 is entered in browser. Can you tell me what is missing? I have tried to locate RNDIS drivers with no success.

Hi Marlin,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the DLP forums. The main recommended method is to use RNDIS over USB and you'll have to find a way to get those drivers off the web if your computer didn't come with them installed. You could also try the steps found in this article:

For the ethernet, I'm surprised it doesn't work. What browser are you using?

Let me know if you try the steps in the link above and if it changes anything.

Thanks for the link, I now have the web page up, however when I push the "run reference scan" button, the screen hangs for several minutes before displaying a webpage error msg. "line 221" , "error: 'data' is undefined". suggestions? Thanks in advance

Hi Marlin,

Is this over USB or Ethernet? If it is over USB, I would recommend trying a different (ideally shorter) USB cable. RNDIS pretty sensitive to bad USB cables.

I just tried a shorter and longer new USB cable. The menu buttons work fine, I was able to acquire a background scan on the 'Quick Scan) page before the software hang. Using the 'Custom Scan' with default values I was able to obtain 2 spectral scans before the software hung again. The error returned is 'data' undefined. Also, this computer is not networked. Firmware is version 2. So much for 'ready to run out of the box.'

Hi Marlin,

My apologies for all the difficulties, I understand the frustration and I'd like to help you get this running. Can you tell me what the version number of the software is? There should be an "info" button which will tell you. If it is version 1, we should make sure you're able to upgrade to version 2, that might clear up some of the issues.

What is the history of your unit? Did you just purchase it recently?

It's version 2. We received the unit about 2 weeks ago. I have been working on it in odd moments since. The laptop is running Explorer 11

Thanks Marlin. One other thing I'd like you to try is using a different browser other than Explorer, it seems to have the most issues. If you could try Chrome or Mozilla, that would be great.
