DLPNIRNANOEVM: NIRNANO cannot boot normally

Part Number: DLPNIRNANOEVM

Hi,

We just use CCS to compile the Mobile Spectroscopy TIVA EVM onto NIRNANO scanner with XDS100v2 probe connected. But during the process, the PC cannot recognize the NIRnano. When we try to use reset button to reset the NIRnano, the power LED is on all the time, which is not the right way it should be (blink). Could you please let me know how to reset the NIRnano with either JTAG or NanoSD card? Thanks for your help.

Best,

Leo

  • Yanjun,

Thanks for your interest in our DLP products.

Have you reviewed the troubleshooting guide in section K of the NIRscan Nano EVM User's Guide? (www.ti.com/.../dlpu030g.pdf)

It is possible you are suffering from a bad EEPROM. If so, the solution could be to add a "SKIP_CFG" file to the nanoSD card, as detailed in section K3. I'll consult with my team so we can provide further advice to you.

    Best Regards,

    Philippe Dollo
  • Hi Philippe,

We figure out how to reset the NIRscan Nano.  But we found new problems with now, after we load  the "NIRscanNano.out" to the EVM, the intensities reading is very abnormal (I attached here).

I need to update Tiva Firmware "NIRscanNano.bin" to make the reading normal.

We have to upload the original one download from TI, not the one generated on my PC, when I built the project. Could you give me some suggestion on this? Appreciate your help.

    Best,

    Leo

  • Have you had had a change to look at this section of our FAQ?
    e2e.ti.com/.../3530.compiling-and-modifying-tiva-firmware

Let me know if that helps!

  • Danny, I have read and followed the procedures discussed in this FAQ to compile the Tiva code. But the issue is that when I download recompiled tiva bin file to the nano scanner (there was not any change made to the code), it will produce a plot that does not make much sense, as shown above. When I reload the tiva bin file downloaded from TI website, then the results would be normal.

Another related issue I hope you can help -- can you provide a procedure as to how I can debug any changes I made to tiva code using CCS and XDS100v2 JTAG interface? I want to change the NIR Nano GUI to add additional control and also change the tiva code to reflect the GUI change. Can you maybe send a power point slides outline steps about how I can debug my changes using CCS and XDS100?

    Thanks again.
  • Hello Leo,

Sorry for the delay. We are looking into this and plan to get back to you at the beginning of the new year.

    Thanks,
    Kyle
  • Hello,

Pardon the delay. Have you made progress on this issue?
