I saw from the DLP5500 web that it can have 2000 lm light through DLP5500
http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/dlp5500.html
I am particularly interested about the lighting source TI is using. Is it a LED source or others? Any place, I can find information about it?
Thank you
Bill
Hi Bill,
Thank you for your question on the DLP5500.
The light intensity that a DMD can withstand is dictated, in part, by the maximum operating temperatures of the device. These temperatures are a function of electrical power dissipated, as well as optical energy absorbed. For the .55XGA chipset, a detailed explanation of thermal load calculations and specs can be found in reference document DLPA015 (Series 450 DMD and System Mounting concepts), pages 14-17. To obtain a lumens value for your illumination source of interest, you would need to characterize its spectral efficiency (lumens/watt). The example presented on the reference document uses a value of 300 lumens/watt, which was obtained for a specific video projection system.
I hope you find this explanation helpful, please let me know if I did not answer your question.
Regards,
Raul
