Got stuck when updating Firmware DM365 using SD card

Hi All,

I'm currently updating Firmware DM365 for LightCrafter DLP 0.3WVGA. I tried using the methods both booting from micro-SD card and from NAND flash. For the micro-SD card setup steps, I went through successfully-- formatted my micro-SD and got image copied just as images shown on the manual. However, after I inserted my micro-SD card to unpowered DLP LightCrafter, set DIP switch to the side of SD card, and power up DLP Light, the image got stuck at the top view of DLP (~90% progress) and the light near DM365 never turn green. Some people reported this problem and said that it could be solved by restarting the DLP through the button instead of unplugging.

However, that didn't work for me.

If anyone knows how to solve this problem, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Guiping,

Could you connect a RS232 debug cable to the UART port on the LightCrafter and send me the debug log during the booting process?

You can use TeraTerm or RealTerm or Putty to then collect the log after setting up the serial port for 115200 baud rate.

This will help me understand the possible cause of failure and help you troubleshoot the issue.

  • Hello Guiping,

Were you able to get the LightCrafter up and running?

One more thing I would have you double check would be that you are using the right dm3xx.dat build.

In order to boot it from SD card, make sure switch always remains to the SD card side and you are building the sd card with dm3xx_sd.dat file

While booting it from NAND, make sure you are building SD card with dm3xx_nand.dat  file and keeping the switch towards SD card at first and then flipping it to the other side once the LED D1 turns green.

Hope this helps and let me know how it goes or if you have any UART logs that I can look at and help you troubleshoot faster.

  • Hi Manasi,

Thanks for your help! I found that I needed to change from Windows 8 64 bit to Windows xp 32 bit for writing SD card. After changing that, things went smoothly.

  • Awesome!! I am glad that its up and running now and thanks for letting us know that SD card utility did not work on Windows 8 for you.
