DLP LightCrafter

I need to have access directly, optically, to the micro-mirror array in myDLP lightcrafter.  How do I get there mechanically?

  • Hi Tom,

Welcome to TI DLP E2E community!

In order to reach the DMD mechanically please follow the following procedure to remove the top/systems board, reach the bottom/driver board, where you will find a connection to the DMD (micro mirror array)

    • Remove the top board (systems board) and double check that the ribbon connected from the connector on the driver board to the light engine is intact. Following screenshots would give you step by step instructions of disassembling the Lightcrafter and reassembling it.
    • remove the system board (top board) by removing the four screws in the corner posts.

    • remove the three screws from the top of the light engine, you will need a Phillips P00 screwdriver
    • remove the four screws on the bottom thermal plate holding the LED heat sinks

    • This step is just to make sure that the connection to the light engine is fine. Make sure that this ribbon is intact (not broken), remove the ribbon cables from the driver board (bottom board). Just pull-up the plastic tab and pull-up the ribbon cable. Be careful, these ribbons are fragile and easy to break while pulling. Then just make sure you push the ribbon all the way in the connector snap it back on and put the system board back on top.

You can also refer to the video for "Removing the Light engine" to understand the process of mechanically disassembling the EVM to reach the DMD/light engine. The video is available at the bottom of the product folder page:

    Hope this helps.
