Can't Connect to LightCrafter via TCP Interface

Hi,

I used to program with my lightcrafter 3000 and control it to project static images, but recently I can't connect to the projector any more. In fact, the device can boot and show the RGB stripes normally and can be recognized by the computer when it's connected via USB. However, It can no longer be programmed with it, nor can it be connected using the GUI provided.

The weird thing is that no change has been made to any of the software which used to work properly. I did travel with this projector, but I don't think it's broken, but I do suspect there to be a hardware problem.

I also tried debugging with the sample code provided, and found that the method "send(sock, buffer + sent, length - sent, 0)" called in "int TCP_Send(int sock, unsigned char *buffer, int length)" in "tcp_client.c" returns -1.

Has anyone encountered the same problem before? Thanks in advance!

Best,

Xinyi

  • Hi Xinyi,

That is definitely a strange issue since you do see the RGB stripes and that it is recognized by the PC.

Here are some of the things you can double check:

    1. Go to device manager and make sure, it shows up as RNDIS network without the yellow exclamation
    2. Could you collect the UART log from the beginning of booting until it boots up and you try connecting it to the GUI?

Hope this gives some direction to next steps.

    Regards

  • Hi Manasi,

    Thanks for the quick response!

I've been using Mac OSX to program with my lightcrafter, and here's how my device is recognized on my mac.
    RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget:

    BSD Name: en3
    Product ID: 0xa4a2
Vendor ID: 0x0525 (PLX Technology, Inc.)
    Version: 3.16
    Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: Linux 2.6.32.17-davinci1 with musb_hdrc
    Location ID: 0x14200000 / 5
    Current Available (mA): 500
    Current Required (mA): 2

I don't know how to collect the UART log while connecting it to the GUI, but I tried to collect the dmesg while the device is booting:
0 1 AppleUSBCDCACMData: start - Find CDC driver for ACM data interface failed

AppleUSBCDCECMData: Version number - 4.1.22, Input buffers 8, Output buffers 32

    AppleUSBCDC: Version number - 4.1.22

    AppleUSBCDCECMData: Ethernet address da:f5:6e:f2:ca:da

    Ethernet [AppleUSBCDCECMData]: Link up on en3, 0-Megabit, Full-duplex, No flow-control, Port 2, Debug [0000,0000,0000,0000,0000,0000]

Does my problem has anything to do with the CDC driver failure? I hope the information above can give you a better idea on what's going on with my projector. Thanks a lot!

    Best,
    Xinyi

  • Hi Xinyi,

Have you solved the problem? I have the same problem. Hope you can help me with it.

I used to connect the DLP light crafter vis usb.  Now I've tried both the XP and Win7 OS . It shows connection error =5 in the XP OS. In the Win 7 OS, nothing is shown. It just cannot be connected. The device can boot and show the RGB stripes normally and can be recognized by the computer when it's connected via USB. The RNDIS network is normal.
