Internet Connection Slowdown when DLP LightCrafter Connected

Hi,

I am wondering if someone else here has experienced a similar problem.

When I connect my DLP LightCrafter to my PC my internet connection (for normal Internet browsing) becomes extremely slow and unresponsive for most of the time. Connecting to Web sites takes forever and a lot of times the browser times out with a message stating the page cannot be displayed.

If I disconnect the Lightcrafter things revert to normal with my Internet browsing. It happens with Internet Explorer and Google Chrome equally. The Lightcrafter itself does not have problem; I can connect to it and operate it without problems.

Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Michel

  • What's the IP address of the adapter connected to the light crafter? What's the IP address of the adapter connected to the internet? C.
  • Adapter connected to light crafter:

    192.168.1.99
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway 0.0.0.0

Light crafter is set to 192.168.1.100

    Adapter connected to Internet:

    172.18.192.109
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway 172.18.192.254

    Thanks

  • Could you  please change the default gateway from 0.0.0.0 to 192.168.1.100 ?

  • I did that about an hour ago and the problem appears solved. I have not had any more problems with my internet connection ever since I changed the default gateway setting.

Thanks a lot Curtis, you have been a tremendous help.

  • Hi Curtis,

Thanks for helping Michel with this issue. Could you provide more insight as to why you made your suggestion? We would like to capture this information for future troubleshooting.

    Hi Michel,

I'm glad you were able to resolve your problem. I wanted to get some more background on your issue. Did you perform the steps in section 2.2.4 Fixing the USB Start-Up Delay in Windows of the LightCrafter EVM User's Guide?

    Thanks,

    Clinton

  • Hi Clinton,

Sorry for the late response. I had been pulled to other projects a few days after my last post here. Now I am back to the LightCrafter project.

Yes, I had performed the steps in section 2.2.4 "Fixing the USB Start-Up Delay in Windows". And the day when I applied Curtis suggestion my Internet worked fine but that lasted only that day, strangely. After that I ran into the same problems. After a few trials and errors this is what I found out (my project uses 2 to 3 projectors, but the number of projectors was not the issue):

    1) If I use the default TCP/IP configuration for the local area connections of my DLPs (obtain IP address automatically, obtain DNS server address automatically) and just make sure to assign even-numbered IP addresses to the DLPs (to allow the local connections to get the odd-number IP addresses), while the DLP networking start-up is slow (up to a minute) I do not have problems with my Internet connection afterwards.

    2) If conversely I use the USB start-up delay fix, which makes use of static IP addresses for the local area connections, then while the start-up problem is fixed (DLP is ready much quicker for the application to connect) I do have problems with Internet connections (it takes forever for Web sites to respond).

Maybe It might just be something related to how the network is configured at my company, I don't know. I ended up no longer using the USB Start-up delay fix (I use dynamic IP). It takes longer to start but I do not have Internet slowness issues.

    Thanks
    Michel
