DLP Lightcrafter3000 connection error #5;

Dear all,

I try to connect the PC with DLP Lightcrafter3000 using DLP LightCrafter GUI control software 5.0. But it fails. The GUI shows the message of “connection error =5”.

What I do are basically follow the instruction of “DLP® LightCrafter Evaluation Module (EVM) User's Guide”.

Connect the DLP LightCrafter to the PC using a mini-USB cable.
Turn on DLP LightCrafter using the on-off switch. A new network using the RNDIS driver should initialize.

But in this step, the Operate System can not automatically install the RNDIS driver. So, I have to download the driver of RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget and install the driver by myself. The following picture shows the installed driver ( in the list of network adapter).

3. Open the DLP LightCrafter GUI. Here the connection error occurs when I click the connection buttion in the GUI.

So, I think there must be something wrong with the driver. Why the installed driver is named as Android USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget #2? Is the connection error related to it?

In addition, my operate system is Window XP3, but it does not include the RNDIS driver, I think. So I have to install the driver manually.

So, could you give me some advices on fixing the problem?

Hi Xin,

It would be nice if you write about what steps you followed to fix the issue. This will be helpful for others facing same situation as yours like as you faced problem on Windows XP.

Actually, it maybe the reason that I did not following the instructioin of DLP EVM guide. My suggestion is that it is carefully to following the instruction.

Anyone who suffers similar difficulties can contact me and I will try my best to it.

I don't know that reason, but I suggest you install the driver carefully, especially follow the instruction guide.

Thanks for your reply.

I am careful about that. And get the version updated to 5.0. And get connected once. Now the driver and network is OK, but still error = 5.

I press the connect button waiting the cpu is 0% for the GUI.

Dear Zhu,

Connection Error = 5, it stands for TCP Socket Input/Out Call error. Although connection is established it may be that your PC is not able to connect to the Kit via hardware.

Are you able "ping" from your PC to IP 192.168.1.100? If you are able ping and get response back then GUI should work.

Also note the Windows XP stopped supporting OS you may want to consider switching to Windows 7/8 OS....

Dear Sanjeev,

I use Windows 8.1, I pinged and got the response back, but not connected.

I found the GUI is not stable. It will not connect with one or two command. You should press slowly, because if you press the button while the GUI is taking the CPU time, it will give you the "Connection Error = 5".

That will get more possibility:

1. Close the GUI, power off the EVM.

2. Take the USB off, and connect it.

3. Power on the EVM. Wait untill the network is set up.

4. Open the GUI, press the connect button after the CPU time is 0. And only press the button while the CPU time is zero.

Hope it is work.
