Hi Christine,
Your EVM Kit is running on the very old firmware, you could update by downloading it from here http://www.ti.com/lcrfw3_mac if you don't want use the GUI with the supplied or matching version of the firmware listed in the tool http://www.ti.com/lcrfw201_mac. We suggest updating is the best way to move forward.
Look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6crxEOXd3Q for update procedure.

Sanjeev
Thanks Sanjeev,
This link does not work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6crxEOXd3Q
Also, why is the newer bundle named 2.0(GUI 4.0) and the older bundle name 3.0(GUI 5.0)? I uninstalled the original and reinstalled but still have the same error.
I purchased the device less than two weeks ago and just downloaded the software today. Why is the old version is the first one listed on the DLP webpage?
Hello Christine,
It appears the hyperlink did not direct to the correct address. Try clicking this link.

Chrstine,
The version is you are referring to is called as PACKAGE VERSION.
This contains firmware for all the components - DM365, MSP430, FPGA and DLPC300. So download the 3.0 Package, and update every component listed in the package. The other piece of software is for DLPC300 that can be downloaded from here http://www.ti.com/tool/dlpr300
user4184095 - made very good point, the file names matters when selecting multiple files , for the multiple file selection, it goes by ascii string sorting, for example, naming convention, pat_0 pat_1..pat_9 pat_10 naming wrongly puts pat_0, pat_1, pat_10,....pat_9. so be careful while selecting file names.
Regards,
Sanjeev
