New Projector Design

Hi Everyone,

First i want to say sorry if this is not the proper forum to ask my question because i was confused where to ask this kind of question.

Now my question is I want to  design a projector which having the following specifications.

  1. Size of the projector should be as small as possible like EVM module of TI.
  2. DMD size at least 0.45'' (1280x800 )
  3. Light intensity around 500-700 lumens.
  4. Binary pattern projection speed 1200.

I have already bought LCR 4500 and Light crater EVM module. But problems with those projectors is there size are too big and those are not modular and alight intensity is quite low.

Is it possible to make a projector modular based ?Is there any other option we can built our projector.

The only problem with the commercial projectors is that there are so many functions which we don't need and 2ndly they can not project faster like LCR 4500.

Can anyone guide about this.

  • Hello Atif,

Look at our Design House network, they are specialized in customizing the optical engines, here is the link you can find their details http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/analog/dlp/solutions-services.page

    Regards,
    Sanjeev

  • Again the problem is still same. They have there own products. We can not make change those ones.

I want to control DMD in my own way.Is it possible ?

  • Hello Atif,

The thing is that some of DH agree on onetime NRE charges. As you know in the projection optics domain the design cycle is very long, this the reason many customers go for the available products from Design Houses. I am sure, if you are ready to pay for the engineering costs they would agree, this is possible, provided they have expertise to design as per your specification. Note, in some cases, the volume drives the NRE charges which could reduce considerable with huge volume.

    Regards,
    Sanjeev

  • Thanks Sanjeev for your quick reply.

Actually we are also a research institute in South Korea. We want to do research in two different directions.

    1. Optics Design
    2. DMD Control

our research center worked on few years back. At that time we had used Discovery 1100 for this purpose and we had used for IR region. Now our focus is to use for the visible light region.

Now we want such a product like discovery 1100.At that time we had used FPGA to control discovery 1100 and perform other tasks.

Same situations now again. If i use the LCR4500 or some product like that i have to use extra board. Is there any product on TI that we can control that by using FPGA ? so we can perform other tasks on that FPGA.
