DLPC300 LED interface timing

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC300

Hi - could anyone help to point me to the LED interface timing specification of DLPC300? switching timing? timing diagram? I depleted what I can think of trying...

We are feeding these signals into an FPGA. It is a structured light application using DLP3000 + DLPC300

Thanks,

William

  • Hi William,

The DLPC300 generates the needed LED driver signals to synchronize the DMD and LEDs with the display mode you are using and patterns being displayed. Are pairing the DLP3000 + DLPC300 with an FPGA? Are you trying to use the LED signals to synchronize other events in your system? If so, there may be other options to accomplish this (output trigger). If you provide additional details on your application, we can provide more guidance for your use case.

    Thanks,
    Clinton
  • Hi Clinton,

I haven't read the programmer's guide yet. But I know we want to support as many modes as we could by using the FPGA.

You are correct about the FPGA. It streams video and issue DLPC control signals (except for the DLPC I2C config is done by a DSP). It also receives LED outputs from the DLPC. We are planning to use the LED to control our LED lights through the FPGA (the reason not to connect directly from DLPC to the LED is that we have an existing hardware we want to re-use). So the FPGA is going to receive the LED signals and massage them into the LED pulses that we want. Therefore, any information regarding the modes and LED signal output timing from DLPC will be helpful. For example, I saw in the following link the user asked about the LED duty cycle when display a static frame:

    Thanks,
  • The LED DutyCycle is NOT applicable in the Structured Light application, the LEDs are driven at 100% duty cycle in Pixel Accurate Sequence mode.

  • Yes, our application is for Structured Light. Could you point me to the document to learn more about the LED modes (eg. "Pixel Accurate Sequence")? I couldn't find this in the DLPC300, DMD3000, or the programmer datasheets. Thanks!
  • Hi William,

Please the following sections of the DLPC300 Programmer's Guide (www.ti.com/.../dlpu004) to learn more about the pixel accurate sequences.

2.3.1.1.2 Pixel Accurate External Video Sequences
2.3.1.2 Internal Video Sequence with Optional FPGA

    Thanks,
