LightCrafter not response after upgade the Firmware

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC300

I try to use the DLPLCR Software Bundle-3.0 to upgrade the Firmware of the lightcrafter, I can install FPGA and MSP430, but fail to install EDID. I try to reboot the lightcrafter, the LED light on PCB board is on, but the projector light is off.

I connect it to the PC and use the GUI to connect the lightcrafter, the software can show the DM356 version, but FPGA and MSP430 only show xxx.xxx and have a fail message.

I try to install the old Firmware , but the project light is still off. When I use the SD card to boot up the lightcrafter, the GUI software can show the version of DM365,FPGA and MSP430, but the project light is still off.

Do you have any suggestion to solve this problems?

Thanks

  • Hi Sammy,

When you boot from the SD card, what are the version numbers for the DM365, FPGA and MSP430? The current versions are:

    DM365: 5.0
    FPGA: 2.6.43
    MSP430: 3.0

If you are not using these versions (from the 3.0 SW bundle), please use the GUI to update them and let us know if your issue persists.

    Thanks,
    Clinton

  • Hi Clinton,

I try to reinstall everything from 3.0SW bundle. But I still can't get any image from the projector. I connect it to PC and the GUI can only get DM365:5.0 and fail to get the version of FPGA and MSP430. I use the SD card to boot up the LightCrafter , GUI can show the version of DM365,FPGA and MSP430 that is same as you mention above. But the LightCrafter still don't have any image from the projector, I try to change display mode to test pattern, the command is fail. And the projector light is off.

I see the D1 LED flash between red and green.

    Thanks

    Regards,

    Sammy

  • Hi Sammy,

Did you try upgrading the EDID binary when you are connected to the LightCrafter when it boots using the SD card? I would suggest doing that, if you have not (since it sounds like it failed the last time you tried). Could you also let us know if you have modified the LightCrafter at all or taken it apart in any way?

    Thanks,
    Clinton
  • Hi Sammy,

Were you able to resolve your issue? If so, could you post the details on how you were able to fix your problem?

    Thanks,
    Clinton
  • Hi Clinton,

I do have exactly the same problems and behaviour as Sammy: after upgrading to the newest firmware (5.0) with sd-card on NAND, the lightcrafter did not show any image. Upgrading FPGA (to 2.6.43), MSP (to 3.0) and DLPC (edid1.0) worked, upgrading the edid failed. Restarting the board and connecting would result in a command failure, the firmware version-group only showing DM365 correctly as 5.0, but FPGA and MSP430 did not have values. Any command failed.

After that I have put the FPGA-SD firmware onto the sd-card, I have rebooted the lightcrafter in SD-card mode. Connecting to the control-software is now successful (after one or two minutes), even the FPGA and MSP430-versions will show up correctly. Most commands end up successful, but setting "Display Testpattern" fails. As before, there is no light coming out of the lightcrafter. As before, LED1 will blink red/ green in 1s intervals.

    So: no light!

FYI: I have not done anything mechanical/ electrically. The board does _not_ have the version 2.0 sticker.

I would really appreciat if you could help me getting the lightcrafter to work again.

    Kind regards,

    Nick

  • Hello,
    any suggestions for a solution?
We would like to use our lightcrafter again...

  • Hi Nick,

    A few questions:

    1. Did you update the DLPC300 FW with the EDID binary? If so, this would be a major issue. The DLPC300 FW is not included in the LightCrafter 3.0 SW bundle. You can find it here: http://www.ti.com/tool/dlpr300
    2. Can you confirm you are seeing the correct FW version numbers for the DM365, FPGA and MSP430 in the GUI now?
    3. What is being displayed after the last boot splash screen? and RGB color ramp image?
    4. Do you get a command fail when setting the "Diplay Mode" to "Test Pattern"?

    Thanks,

    Clinton

  • Hi Clinton,

thanks a lot, #1 was the problem/ solution. After installing the DLPC300 FW the device runs as it should, FW version numbers are displayed correctly and the leds now work. Also, I can boot normally from internal NAND again.

    Thank you!

    Kind regards

    Nick
