DLP LightCrafter Booting issues

Hi,

Currently my DLP LightCrafter is not booting corretly, it boots almost the whole progress bar and stops just before finish booting.

I had traied to boot it from micro SD card and had the same result, it doesn't finish booting and the DM365 led stucks in red.

The first time I turned it on I connected it to my PC and attempt to update the DM365 firmware, since all of the firmwares were out of date. It didn't complete the command and every single time throw a "Command Failed" message, no other command was accepted by the system and after it was turned off.

After that time I hasn't work at all.

  • Hi Alejando,

Welcome to the forums. It sounds like your DM365 is not booting properly. This is not something that can be updated through the GUI. Please follow the steps in section 2.13.2 Updating the DM365 Firmware in the LightCrafter3000 user's guide (www.ti.com/.../dlpu006).

You can find the DM365 FW in the following directory, if you chose the default options. Note which variant (SD vs NAND boot) of the FW you choose and follow the steps in the user's guide for that boot option.

    <install directory>\Texas Instruments-DLP\DLPLCRSoftwareBundle-3.0\DLP3000-C300REF-DM365-v5.0

Let us know how this goes.

    Thanks,
    Clinton
  • Hi Clinton,

Thanks for your help, I have been able to perform the NAND booting for the DM365 from Micro-SD card.

Apparently the issue resided in the Micro-SD card that I was using, I followed the booting steps with a new Micro-SD card (Kingston 4 GB, class 4 - SDC4/4GB) and everything worked properly.

Also, I think there is a little bug when performing the MSP430 firmware update. I performed this update with help of the GUI, the first time that I installed the firmware into the LightCrafter, it threw a "Command SUCCED" message but the GUI didn't detect the new version, so I tried to install it again and -for my bad luck- the DM365 crashed again. I re-booted it from the Micro-SD card and now everything is up to date and working fine.

    Thanks,

    Alejandro Alcaraz
