DMD Aspect Ratio

Hello there,

We got two DLP 3000, and we removed the optics lens and use them for scientific research.

My question is why the physical dimension of the DMD looks stretched. It says the native resolution is 608 x 684 which is rough square ratio, but it looks like 2 : 1.

I read the article on ASPECT RATIO

But I am still confused why it looks unnatural. Do it means there is more pixels than 608 in horizon, and less pixels than 684 in vertical direction? No matter which types of pixel topographies in the micromirror arrays, the aspect ratio should be unchanged(at least if  each micromirror is square shape).

Using the following image, would you please show me for two vertical lines next to each other should looks like the  the (black and green) or (black and red)? if two lines arranged in black and red configuration, it makes no sense to me. Only when these two lines arranged as black and green will it makes sense, but then the native resolution would be 1216 in horizontal direction!!!

It's so confusing!

Thanks!

Chunde
