Questions about LightCrafter 4500

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC350

Hi,

We are interested in buying a LighterCrafter 4500. I would like to ask a few questions about this module.

(1) From an earlier post, it seems that the DMD is attached in the iView light engine and connected to the board using a flexible cable. And it seems possible to separate the DMD from the rest of the light engine. So, after the separation, how can I mount the DMD? Can I directly attach the DMD back to the LIghtCrafter with screws? If not, do I need to make my own part to mount the DMD?

(2) We would like to use an external trigger to control the DMD. We want to store some 1-bit patterns into the DMD memory. Is LightCrafter 4500 capable of doing this? And how fast can the DMD operates under this mode?

(3) How reliable is this device? We had some difficulties using the LightCrafter 3000. Although claimed to work well, the external triggering never worked for our device, which forced us to go with the video streaming mode. Have you really fixed all previous problems in LightCrafter 3000?

Thank you,

Jinyang

  • Hello Jinyang,

    #1.

Yes, you need to build some kind of small frame to keep the DMD attached to flex cable seated safely.

There is no direct way to connect the DMD to the controller board, the DMD signal o/p taken out as flat panel cable signals via J27 connector (refer schematics) AXT580124

    #2.

Max is 5KHz binary. Max number of pattern - 48 binary patterns. Higher pattern number there will be effect achievable speed.

    #3.

The controller has built-in USB core, the DLPC350 is detected as normal USB HID device, so you can communicate more reliably and easier.
