DLP® LightCrafter™ 4500 and DLP nirscan EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP4500NIR, DLP4500, DLPC350

Hello

1)I am intreseting in the DLP nirscan EVM, I want to know the version of lamp, including its rated powernominal voltage, rated current and so on.

2)You have released the project of DLPnirscan , Could you please send me the bom and the SCH project of DLPlightcrafter4500, I  want to learn about it,too.

3)I have found the GUI of lightcrafter4500, but I don't know how to configer it ,could you please help me?

  • Hello Xin Jia,

You can find the all of the design files, including the lamp specifications, for the NIRscan on this TI Design page: http://www.ti.com/tool/tida-00155

The LightCrafter 4500 design files are available on this TI Design page: http://www.ti.com/tool/dlp4500-c350ref

For information on using the LightCrafter 4500, please refer to the User's Guide: http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/DLPU011

    Best regards,

    Blair

  • Hello Conner

Thanks for your response! But  I can't find the lamp srecification on  http://www.ti.com/tool/tida-00155, I only find the PCB project, could you please send me the download link? thanks!

I want to make the Near-infrared light detection system like your DLPNIRSCAN, I plan to buy the DLP® LightCrafter™ ,then replace the DLP4500 with DLP4500NIR, and then use the DLP® LightCrafter™ 's GUI to control it, is it workable? How can I set the pattern sequence in GUI ?

    THANKS!!!

  • Hello Xin Jia,

The lamp part numbers can be found in the NIRscan Mechanical Bill of Materials, which is located on the TI Design page (http://www.ti.com/tool/tida-00155).  Click the link: “Download BOM” to download the zip file.  These part numbers will allow you to find more information about the lamp its accessories.

Replacing the LightCrafter4500's DLP4500 DMD with a DLP4500NIR DMD is possible as the DMDs are electrically equivalent, however doing so will void your LightCrafter4500 warranty.  Also note that the optics in the LightCrafter4500 are optimized for visible wavelengths, not NIR wavelengths.

To learn more about using the GUI to program pattern sequences on the LightCrafter4500, please see the Pattern Sequence Mode section of the DLP LightCrafter4500 Evaluation Module User’s Guide: http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/DLPU011

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

    Best Regards,

    Trevor

  • Hello Trevor

Thanks for your warnings! I have known LightCrafter4500 are optimized for visible wavelengths,  but the DLPlightcrafter 4500's main circuit is the same as DLP nirscan in my require ,so I replace the DLP4500 with DLP4500nir, but i wonder whether it can work for my requires if I have replaced. The board's circuit  in  DLPlightcrafter 4500 can work for my requires?

As we know ,the GUI is designed for DLP lightcrafter 4500, but my demand is the DLP4500nir can devide nir into different  bands ,then the single detector can receive the nir. so can the GUI work for my requires?

    THANKS!!!!

  • Dear Xin,

    Allow me some comments.

You can replace the DMD on the Lightcrafter 4500 electronics. The circuit is basically the same used in the NIRscan electronics.

The pattern generation and read-out of the detector is managed by a separate processor. This and and other control functions (like the lamp and detector cooling control) are all part of the main NIRscan electronics. If you want, you can purchase the NIRscan electronics only from us. We also have a new electronics solution in work that may be of interest in the future. Please contact us on our web-page if you are interested in ore details.

    Regards,

  • Dear Trevor,

Thanks for your response and suggestions ,but maybe I didn't make it clear. I'll make my system like your DLP nirscan, but it isn't same as DLP nirscan completely. I also use the DLPC350 and DLP4500nir , so I want to make my own board with C350 and DMD, but I find the lightcrafter4500's board without AM335x is more suitble for me than DLP nirscan, so I want to buy the DLP4500 then I'll replace.

But I have two questions above, is  the 4500's board can work for me after replacing? Is the 4500'sGUI can work for me ?

    THANKS!!!

  • Hello Xin Jia,

If you replace the DLP4500 on the LightCrafter 4500 with the DLP4500NIR, the LightCrafter 4500 board and software will work exactly the same.

    Best regards,

    Blair

  • Hello Blair

I still want to make it sure if I can use GUI to control the C350 so that I can devide the nir into different bands and single detecter receive them after replacing. If it can, how should I set the GUI?

    Thanks!!!!

    JIAXIN

  • Hi Jiaxin,

The LightCrafter 4500 GUI will operate the DLPC350 with the DLP4500NIR as well. As far as the DLPC350 is concerned, the DLP4500 and DLP4500NIR are identical.

    Best regards,

    Blair
