I have a problem about a Discovery 4100 DMD produced in 2003

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP5500, DLPC410

Dear TI,

We got a DMD development kit, which is discovery 4100. It was produced in 2003. The chipset is 0.55 XGA. But we could not find the program to control the DMD for this version. Where can I download the program and installation file?

Thank you

Albert

  • Hello Albert,

First, welcome to the TI DLP section of the TI-E2E community.

Is this a Discovery 3000 kit?  The Discovery 4x00 series was not produced until around 2008.  If it is a Discovery 3000 there was no PC side software provided by TI for this kit.  It was primarily for customers who needed high speed control and intended to design their own FPGA code.

The kit itself had no USB interface on board.  ViALUX made a piggyback board which offered more functionality.  You may want to contact them and see if they are able to assist you with this.  Here is a link to their information page in TI:   ViALUX

  • Dear TI,

I might type a wrong year. I am sure that the version is Discovery 4100. The chipset is 0.55 XGA. But the version may be the latest one. Is there any suggestion for downloading its controlling software? Or Should I give you other information to help us?

  • Hello Albert,

0.55 XGA is DLP5500 chip. It will not work with DLPC410 controller or Discovery platform.

    Sanjeev

  • Dear TI,

I typed wrong information for you. Really sorry about that.

Our Discovery 4100 is “an older version”, which may be the oldest version. The chip is 0.55 XGA. Is there its controlling software which can run our kit in the official website? We could not find a proper software to activate our kit.

    The product number is

    2510452-2001 for kit

    T41-0610-0169 for board

    92A54HD 020106 for DMD

    Thank you!

  • Hello Albert,

Yes there was a 'Type X' 0.55" XGA DMD that is no longer available now that some Discovery 4100 eval kits were available with in 2008-2009.  However, the firmware and software are aware of he part and should work with them.  There is no special firmware or software needed.

If the DMD were taken from a consumer projector and attempted to be used with the kit, it will NOT work.  The DMD will display an all off image only.

You should be able to access the software for the DIscovery EVAL kit on theTI  MySecureSoftware site (formerly called the Discovery Extrnet).  If you do not have access to the MySecureSoftware area, you will need to request access fromt he Design House that the kit was purchased from.

It is not hard, but they do have a small screening process before sending a request to TI.

    I hope this helps.

  • Dear TI,

We got the interface software. However, we could not install it in our computer with a XP system. The computer said the installation is not correct. Is there any software which we do not install in our computer? We tried to check the latest version of DMD software and found that there were several file for the latest one. If we want to operate our DMD, what software should we install in our computer except for its setup?

  • Hello Albert,

If you have XP-SP3 you may have to manually force the drivers to update.  Do this by going to Device Manger and selecting "update driver" and pointing to the Discovery 4100 drivers directory.  The default is "C:\Program Files\DMD\Discovery 4100\Drivers".

The software was designed for XP during the SP1/SP2 era and should work on the XP platform, unless you are using XP 64-bit.  If so the software will NOT install.

    I hope this helps.
