DMD Micromirror Array Orientation

Hi Dear,

Hope this find you well. I want to buy Optoma ML 750 for research purpose. I have a very short questions about DMD used in Optoma ML 750. Please reply me the following question.
  1. Which type of DMD chip is used in ML 750 is it Square or Diamond shape pixel ?
  2. In the specification of the Projector they have mentioned that they are using  "Single 0.45ʺ DMD DLP® Technology by Texas Instruments™ " and Native Resolution is "WXGA (1280 x 800)"...but in my opinion the native resolution for 0.45ʺ DMD DLP is 912x1140. Is it possible that TI is manufacturing some special DMD for companies ?

I have tried to contact company a lot but they did not reply. If anyone know please guide me.

Regards,
Muhammad Atif
  • Hi Muhammad,

It is .45 WXGA 912x1140 diamond pixel. This is the one used in Optoma ML 750.

TI only made this one type of .45 WVGA 912x1140 DMD device. The confusion came from the diamond pixel which has 45 degree rotated. After re-processing the diamond pixel back to straight line pixel, it becomes WVGA 1280x800.

So the visual effect on display is WVGA 1280x800, but physical DMD diamond pixel is 912x1140.

    Hope this clarify the issue.
