NIR Scan more information/documentation required

Hi,

I am wondering if you have seen any documentation explaining the software structure for the NIR scan? What I mean is:

(1) What if I want to change the HTML pages so that I can customise the GUI?
(2) or better still if I want to write my own GUI what are the command structures which can be sent via USB/Eth?
(3) What if I want to change the firmware i.e. so I can create my own commands or automated some of the code - how do I compile this and is it all loaded from the SD card?
(4) I am interested to learn more about the optical path, so that I could change the configuration. Even better if simulation files were available?
(5) I think a high level document explaining the software hierarchy such that if say you wanted to change the HTML - you go into folder XYZ, if you want to use a command there is a list available showing accessibility from any of the ports (Web/Eth,USB), if you want to change the firmware then you will need such and such tools and programmer ...

I feel there are large sections of supporting material missing. The attraction for the DLP NIR scan for me is the advantage of the DMD, but I will want to create my own products from it, so I need this information and understanding. I feel that TI are almost treating this as a finished product rather than an open development tool which can be modified and replicated by the user/adopter.

Many Thanks,

Tom

  • Please could someone from TI reply to this ... I am very dubious about investing in a NIR scan module without ensuring that I can find my way around the code and that I have access to it all.

    Thanks,

    Tom

  • Hello Tom,

Sorry I missed this particular one of your posts.

I can say that we are actively working to determine how much of the source code we can share.  There are potential licensing issues any time you release source code that must be addressed.  If and when we are able to release this it will be announced either in this E2E forum or on the DLP page of ti.com (or both).

I wish I could be more definite.

  • Hi Fizix,

I do not really understand your answer! The code is provided as part of the "bundle" download.

What I am asking for is information on how to use the code and its structure - this seems to have been neglected by TI.

Myself and other users may want to change the HTML pages for customisation and we may want to use the API structure directly. We are not asking for proprietary code, just how to use the code that has been provided, without us having to use precious time second guessing where things are. Furthermore, once modified how to we compile the code and "program" the eval module.

    Thanks,

    Tom

  • Tom,

Sorry, somewhere along the way I missed this response.  I clearly did not take your point.  I see what you are saying and will see what I can find out.
