Optical information about LightCrafter 2010

he information of LightCrafter 2010 on TI's web site is all electrical information but no optical information. Could you help me to find the following information?

1. Throw ratio
2. Minimal focused image size,
3. Image Distortion
4. Brightness

Paul,

The light engine is described on the LightCrafter User's Guide on Table 1-1 on page 10. With regards to the parameters asked:

Throw Ratio is 1.66
Focus Range is 364 mm to 2169mm
Brightness is 25 lumens at LED power of 1.85W
Brightness uniformity is 70%

Hello Pedro,

Thanks for the reply. The LightCrafter User's Guide is for DLP 0.3-inch WVGA witch is used for LghtCrafter 3000 but not LightCrafter 2010 (0.2-inch WVGA). I can't find the same User's Guide for LightCrafter 2010 in TI's web site.

Or does LightCrafter 2010 have exact the same optical characteristics as LightCrafter 3000?

Paul,

Sorry, I misunderstood which LightCrafter information you were interested. The information I gave was for the 0.3" LightCrafter.

The LightCrafter 2010 User's Guide is here, but it does not specify the light engine parameters. I will find out more info on it.

No problem. Thank you for taking care my questions.

I got some information for the engine of the LightCrafter 2010 like

1. Throw ratio: 1.65
2. Minimal focused image size : 5inch
3. Distortion: Need to check with the manufacture
4. Brightness: 25 lum average ( ANSI)
5. Optical offset: 100%

We will add this info to the LightCrafter 2010 User's Guide:

Brightness: Typical 25 lumens
LED Current: Typical 650 mA
Brightness Uniformity: >75%
Throw Ratio: Typical 1.65
Offset: Typical 100%
Focus Range: 5-50 inches
Image diagonal size: 5-50 inches

Thank you for your interest in our DLPDLCR2010EVM.

Unfortunately our DLPDLCR2010EVM is only compatible to this engine.

iView one of our optical engine manufacture has an optical engine with a DLP2010 and a higher brightness. The contact information for iView can be found under following link.

1. would you provide dimensional information of 2010 PCB?
2. how long distance of the connection between 2010 optical engine and 2010 PCB can be?
3. what is the noise level of optical engine of 2010 EVM?

Hello Yongjoo,

The 2010EVM Display board has a size of 2.5 inch x 2.1 inch. The 2010EVM main board has a size of 4.5 inch x 2.5 inch.

The recommended length can be found in our DLPC3435 datasheet in section 11.1.5. The max length is 6 inches.

Can you please clarify what do you meaning with noise level of the optical engine? Are you referring to the DMD signals?

Hello Yongjoo,

We don't use a cooling fan on our 2010EVM. We connected a metal plate to the optical engine which is helping with conducting the heat away from the engine.

Hello Yonjoo,

Thank you for your interest.

We are not providing the flex cable or the LED cables separately from our EVMs. The maximum length of 6 inch is the length from the DLPC3435 controller to the DMD which includes the flex cable and the board traces.

The flex cable normally comes with the optical engine or is designed specifically by customers for their use cases.

Do you know where I could have those flex cables specifically designed? Do you know if there are any gerber or DXF files for those flex cables?

Hello User,

The flex cable gets provided by the optical engine manufacture. The optical engine manufacture is owning the layout for this flex cable.

You can get the flex cable produced normally at any PCB manufacture.
