NED with LightCrafter EVM

I have recently purchased the LightCrafter Display 2010 EVM. I am looking to convert this type of system into a near eye display. The current state of the EVM is too large for my needs; however if the optical driver could be separated (or bought separately) then the size of the PCBs on the EVM would not be a problem for my application. I am curious if anyone know this these components could be separated and if so is it possible to attach the optical driver to the rest of the EVM with cables ~1 m in length.

Thank You,

  • Dylan,

Optical engine (OE) (if this is what you mean by optical driver) can be bought separately. See the following link where you can buy OE from these makers.

OE (Optical driver) is linked to rest of electronics by flex cable and a few wires to the LED driver for RGB LED connection. There is restriction of how long the flex cable can be . You indicate the flex cable is 1 meter? If this is what you mean, this will be way too long. Typically, the flex cable is about a few inches, see schematic on 2010EVM for reference.
