DLP4710: Image scaling with no loss of resolution

Part Number: DLP4710
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP2010

I wish to generate a small 2X2  mmXmm image from the DLP or thereabout. Any recommendations?  (4710G2)

  • Hello User,

Thank you for your interest in our DLP Technology.

With the current optical engine provided with the EVM a sharp 2x2 mmxmm image can not be displayed. The EVM optics is mainly designed for larger display applications.

What end-application are you interest in ? We have a list of optical engine manufactures which might be able to provide with an optical engine which can show such a small image.

My guess is that the DLP2010 DMD would be a better fit for that.

    Best regards,

    Nadine

  • Many thanks for the response Nadine,

I have purchased the 4710G2 model. What would perhaps help is advice to have an image of a similar size to the DMD as a start. I can use external optics to reduce further. Are there any parts I can remove or replace?

I am trying to put together patterns for a small image. The 4710 is basically a test kit with higher luminance and resolution.

    best regards

    Med.

  • Hello Med,

The DMD is mounted into the optical engine. Removing the DMD would mean to loose the mechanical mounting which connects the DMD to the flex cable. Without it the DMD wouldn't have a good enough connection to the system.

You can extend to the current optical system to further reduce the image size if possible. We have evaluation kits on the market which only come with a DMD on the flex cable. Perhaps this would be a better option to start with.

    Best regards,
    Nadine
