DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2: No light coming from lens

Part Number: DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2

Hi,

We purchased some DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2 and we found 2 of them not showing any video. The first when we first turn the switch on the fans start and these 2 green LED's show.

Then when we turn the other switch (green switch) on these 4 LED's show, but there is no video or light going through the lens.

The second one we power it on the same the fans start and the 2 green LED's show. However, when we turn on the second switch (Green Switch) nothing happens. The LED's stay the same and no video or light comes from the lens.

Please let us know how we can resolve this issue, thank you.

  • Hi Jaime,

Thanks for your interest in DLP products. I'm sorry to hear you're having problems with these boards.

Are the other EVMs that you received working ok and displaying splash screen?

With the current boards with problem, was this problem observed from the beginning and out of box? Have these boards been modified in any way? Also how long has it been since the purchase of these EVMs?

    Thanks,

    Sepeedah

  • Hi Sepeedah,

The other 10 are working fine. Yes we wanted to test the whole lot just in case there were any issues with them and there were no differences in how they were tested yet two did not work. No these boards have not been modified in any way. We purchased these through Mouser Electronics on 8/15/2017.

Please let us know what we can do.

    Thank you

  • Jaime,

First, I would recommend to make sure you are following all the recommendations on p.6 of the EVM guide. Please make sure that you are using the correct power supply and also turning on the boards the way it is mentioned in the guide (On/off slider switch (SW28) first and then the green push button(SW21)).

Second, please make sure that the flex cables are not damaged or loose and are connected to the board correctly.

However, if these are out of box failures, and the boards have not been modified in anyway, and it has been less than 90 days of the original purchase date, you can return the EVMs and get a replacement. Your EVM should have came with a flyer mentioning this policy and the procedure to do this.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

    Best,

    Sepeedah

  • Hi Sepeedah,

Yes we followed the EVM guide and we have the correct power supply which we use to test the lot. Yes we turned all the units the same way as mentioned in the guide.

The flex cables do not look damaged and are not loose, but they still do not show any video.

I reviewed the policy but it does not state how exactly we return the EVM for replacement. If you can let us know we can send them as soon as possible.
    Please let us know
    Thank you

  • Jaime,

I would recommend calling the number on the flyer. Also, since you purchased through Mouser Electronics, you will most probably need to go through them for the return process.

Let me know if there are other questions.
    Best,
    Sepeedah
