DLP4710: Patterns on black background

Part Number: DLP4710

Hello everybody,

I bought a DLP 4710 to project  light patterns.
I tried to connect via HDMI and to send images in sequence. Patterns are bmp images with a completely black background. Each image is generated on labview and I can control the color and depth of each pixel. So far so good but when patterns are projected by DLP unfortunately the  background is not completely black.I would like to cancel the projection of the background that defines the dlp screen, in order to obtain completely defined patterns on a black background without residual light. Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Thanks so much!

  • Hello,

Thanks for using the DLP E2E forums! There will be some light even in the areas you are trying to display 100% dark. This is a natural side effect of projectors and is dependent on the optics. The DLP4710 EVM  is designed for evaluation purposes and it is possible some improvements in the optics could be made to improve this.

One thing you can try to ensure your pre-processing is working properly is in the GUI go to the Patterns and Images tab. Try displaying a black and white checkerboard. you can compare the quality of the black sections to what you are seeing now.
