Detecting Touches DLP® LightCrafter™ Display 2000 Evaluation Module

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPDLCR2000EVM

Hello,

What would be the cheapest or easiest way to detect touches on the reflected area? I want to build a simple control panel that resembles the smart controls in the ad video.

  • Hi,

Thank you for your interest in the new DLPDLCR2000EVM. We do not currently have a design for this application, but a lot of research has been done recently to do just that. Most solutions need a sensor to measure the X and Y position of your finger, or other object. Things like a time-of-flight sensor, IR, or other computer vision approaches will allow you to do this.  Please let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Hello Sel,

I would suggest that you review the "TI DLP® Pico™technology for smart home applications" paper, which can be found here: www.ti.com/.../dlpc101a.pdf

This document (particularly on pages 8-9) recommends various options for producing interfaces that can be used with our DLP Pico chipsets. You can decide which technology is most suitable for your application from there.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask if you have additional questions.

    Best Regards,

    Philippe Dollo
