DLPC3430: DLPC3430 HOST_IRQ Will Not Go Low

I am trying to communicate with the DLPC3430 over I2C, but the system does not appear to finish booting up.

The datasheet indicates that after RESETZ transitions low-to-high, HOST_IRQ will go low indicating the chip is ready. I am not seeing this transition.

I have attached a couple scope shots illustrating this. The traces are PROJ_ON, RESETZ, HOST_IRQ, and DOUT from the flash.

Sam,

I have accepted your friend request on E2E. If you would like to provide more details on your design I can take a look at it for you.

Have you checked to ensure that flash IC on your system has been programmed with the correct firmware? If the firmware cannot be found or is the wrong version your system will not be able to finish booting.

Hello Philippe,

I found that there was a mis-wiring on our board and fixed it. I am able to get HOST_IRQ to go low.

I have one question about the I2C Address: The Programming manual says it is 0x36, but when I write that address to the device I see no ACK. Can you confirm that I am writing the correct address to the device?

Sam,

The I2C slave address is 0x1B. Typical I2C communication takes the slave address value and places in the upper 7-bits of the I2C bus and appends a read/write bit. During a write transaction, the slave address byte value on the I2C bus is 0x36 (=0x1B appended with 0).

Is the waveform in my picture correct for the first byte of a write transaction? If so, I am trying to determine why I do not see an ACK on the last bit.

You are right that there appears to be something wrong with the ACK bit. It should be going low but remains high. Would you be able to share your I2C bus design in hardware? Please let me know via private message if possible.
