DLP2000: dlp2000

Part Number: DLP2000
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPDLCR2000EVM,

Good day! As part of our development we are going to use DMD chips 2000 series Projection system will work in slightly darkened rooms. We need to get a brightness of 200 lumens if that is possible on the 2000 series chips ? The projector is switched on for a very short time. On 3 seconds, off 10 seconds. In this mode you can use more powerful diodes? And that is needed. Thank you.

  • Alexey,

Thanks for your interest in our DLP products.

Unfortunately, the DLP2000 chipset (and the DLPDLCR2000EVM) may be a bit too small for the 200 lumens of projection you are looking for. To better understand the tradeoffs between brightness and DLP chip size, I recommend you review section 4 of our "Brightness Requirements and Tradeoffs" Application Report (www.ti.com/.../dlpa068a.pdf). This guide is useful for helping you determine what class of device you need for your given application.

In your particular application, you may be more limited by the size of the DMD rather than the strength of the LEDs you are using. The larger DMDs (such as 0.3" class) will be able to take in more light and thereby achieve a greater projection brightness.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,
    Philippe Dollo
