looking to extend my optic engine on DLPDLCR2000EVM for my project. Looked on the BOM but couldn't find an more details on the manufacturer website for the two flex cables.

What would the interface between the board and optic engine?

Welcome to the E2E forums and thanks for your interest in our DLP technology.

The flex cables are provided along with the optical engine, which are both manufactured by Young Optics. Outside of contacting them directly, you will probably need to create your own breakout board or flex cable to create a longer interface connection between the board and optical engine. In doing so, you would need to source the above listed ACES connector to connect to the board.

I would like to note that length can be a critical factor in DMD interface design. Following the specifications listed in the DLP2000 datasheet, the system may become unstable if the routing length between the DMD and controller is too long. This can be exacerbated by a longer flex cable, as well. A link to the DMD datasheet is provided below:

Hi Philippe

Is the potential issues due to the timing requirements of the DLP2000 or the power requirements?

I had trouble trying to find the ACES connectors mentioned, and flex cables, will have a try with Young Optics.

The issue is primarily timing, although power does become involved at a certain point. Information about this can be found in Section 10.1.7 of the DLPC2607 datasheet, for example:

I recommend you review section 10.1.5 of the DLPC2607 datasheet for layout guidelines for the chipset. This will clue you in to how to set up the etching length between the DMD and controller:

You may be looking at the trace length that this particular EVM uses in the design. While I don't have that data on hand, you should be able to measure it by looking at the PCB layout file included with the DLPDLCR2000EVM TI Design. You can download it here:
