DLPC3435: Purpose of MSP micro-controller on main card of DLP2010.

Part Number: DLPC3435

Hi,

I'm currently designing a board that will contain DLP3435/DPA2000 chipset.  I'm wondering if the MSP micro-controller contributes that is included on the EVM board (M430F2274) is required to use this chip-set?

Thanks,
Stephen Craig

  • Stephen,

The MSP430 is used to streamline some of the system behaviors of the DLPC3435 chipset. For example, it will issue I2C commands to auto-switch to the appropriate input resolution when an HDMI source is detected. You should be able to design your system without it, although you will need to provide some kind of I2C interface so your host can talk to the DLPC3435.

    Best Regards,

  • Thank-you, this is helpful. Right now I'm fairly certain that this functionality is handled by another component in our design, but I will double-check. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
