DLPC3435: eDRAM size

Part Number: DLPC3435
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC3430

The DLPC3435 contains a DRAM to use as "embedded frame memory."  What is the size of this memory?  It doesn't seem to be in the DLPC3435 datasheet.

Stephen Craig

  • Stephen,

Have you tried checking out the DLP2010EVM reference design? It uses the DLPC3430, but you can use it as a comparison to get an idea for how the DRAM part fits into the system:

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi Philippe,

I have the EVM reference design, and I'm using it to help with the layout of my board. However, I wasn't able to find anything in the reference design that tells me the size of that RAM either.

The 1-frame latency leads me to believe that it is a two frame buffer, so that it can buffer one full incoming frame while it is projecting the last full frame that it received. Is this the case?

I also want to mention how much we appreciate all the help. I've been asking a lot of questions, and you've been getting back to me very quickly. I and everyone on my design team greatly appreciate it. It has really helped us move our project along.

    Thanks-again,
    Stephen Craig
  • Stephen,

Not a problem. You are correct that the DRAM is a two-frame buffer.

Feel free to inquire if you have any further trouble. Glad to be of assistance.
