DLPDLCR2010EVM: Need help choosing between DLPDLCR2010EVM and DLPLIGHTCRAFTER

Part Number: DLPDLCR2010EVM

The lightcrafter EVMs seem to be split into two categories: 1) advanced light control and 2) display. My application is of advanced light control (optical microscopy). However, DLPDLCR2010EVM ($399) and DLPDLCR2000EVM ($99) are both cheaper and more current as compared to DLPLIGHTCRAFTER ($599). DLPDLCR2010EVM and DLPLIGHTCRAFTER also seem to have the same resolution. I would like to know if I can use DLPDLCR2010EVM or DLPDLCR2000EVM for my application. My requirements are as follows:

1) I need only binary pattern generation.

2) I am using an external light source, hence the optical engine/ led and optics should be detachable since I only want to use and control the DMD.

Please let me know which one will be better for my application.

  • Varun,

For starters, you will likely be limited in functionality using one of our display chipsets. For example, there are various visual image processing algorithms which cause an output image to not always match 1:1 in terms of mirrors. Hence, the DLPDLCR2000EVM and DLPDLCR2010EVM may yield unsatifying results for an advanced light control application.

Depending on your schedule, you may want to consider keeping your eye on our upcoming DLPC3470 chipset:

This chipset has similar specifications as the DLPDLCR2010EVM with regards to resolution and brightness, but also provides the light control capability you are looking for. With this chipset you will be able to take advantage of all the light control capabilities you would see with the DLPLIGHTCRAFTER EVM you pointed out.

    I hope this helps.
