DLP3010: Different data between input and output of ITE6801

Part Number: DLP3010

Hello TI Expert,

I have got a question from our customer who is evaluating the DLP LightCrafter Display3010.

Would you please check the following question and give any comment?

[Question]

We would like to know about the working of ITE6801, HDMI receiver.

If our customer inputs the data of 1280x720 24 bit data from HDMI source and tries to check the parallel data (output of ITE6801 and input of DLPC343x), the input data and output data of ITE6801 are not same. Why do you think these data are not matched?  Is it possible to output same data from ITE6801?

They tried to use a solid color for the input data and changed the pixel depth from 0 to 255.

Even though they input 256-level data, it looks the output data of LTE6801 is compressed to (shrunk) 0 to 219 (totally 220 levels) like an attached graph and table.

For example, in case of inputting solid Red data from 0 to 255 pixel depth, (R,G,B) =(0,0,0) and (1,0,0) are same (0,0,0), (R,G,B) =(7,0,0) and (8,0,0) are same (6,0,0).

There are 36 points that are duplicated.

Would you please give any comment to the following phenomenon of ITE6801?

Thank you for your help.

Best Regards,

Nobu Arai
