DLP3010: OPTICAL MODULE OF DLP3010

Part Number: DLP3010
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP4710, DLP470NE

hi,

i want to know the optical module design and how much brightness can handle it?

can i use for high brightness around 1000 lm?

can i extend the image size by 150-200 dia. inches?

i want to make optical module by my self.

what about life? i have seen white inactive pixels on many DLP projectors. how to avoid them?  what's your opinion of it's cause?

thanks

  • DIPAK,

Let me try to address each of these questions individually.

    1. Can you provide more information about optical module design and brightness specification?

A reference design for a DLP3010 optical engine can be found at www.ti.com/.../dlpa079.pdf. I recommend you review this document for assistance with your custom design.

    2. Can the DLP3010 provide brightness around 1000 lm?

The DLP3010 (which is a 0.3" class device) is not recommended for 1000 lumens applications. For this range of brightness, it is recommended to instead use the DLP4710 (which is a 0.47" device). A chart that captures the tradeoffs between achievable projection brightness and image diagonal can be found in section 4 of our brightness tradeoffs white paper, which can be found at: www.ti.com/.../dlpa068a.pdf

    3. Can the image size on the DLP3010 be extended by 150-200 inches diagonally?

This information is available in the same chart referenced in question 3 (Figure 1, www.ti.com/.../dlpa068a.pdf). In particular, extending the image size to ~150 inches diagonal will require a higher class of DMD device than what the 0.3" 720p DMD can provide. For a 1000 lumen device with a 150" diagonal, a 0.47 1080p DMD device will be more appropriate in this case.

    4. How can I avoid inactive pixels in my design?

In order to optimize the lifetime for your devices, it is recommended to follow the suggestions provided in the "Recommended Operating Conditions" section of each respective DMD's datasheet (section 6.4). For the DLP3010 DMD, this is found at www.ti.com/.../dlp3010.pdf. For the DLP4710 DMD, this is found at www.ti.com/.../dlp4710.pdf.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have follow up questions.

    Best Regards,
    Philippe Dollo
  • hi,

DLP4710 ()and DLP470NE() both have so mostly all common specifications. then why there is big price difference?

the light handling capacity and resolution both are same.

looks like the heat dissipation capacity of cheaper one is low. but regarding this www.ti.com/.../dlpa068a.pdf document, it looks confusing.

is there any warranty for dlp product?

are optical module specifications of DLP3010 AND DLP4710 SAME? because dlp3010 have detailed information.
