DLP3010: DLP3010 camera trigger/sync information

Part Number: DLP3010

Hello TI,

I have a DLP3010 EVM and want to trigger a TIS DMM 72BUC02-ML board level camera.  Two other posts seem to indicate it is possible to get a camera trigger signal out of the 3010 EVM even though the module is in generally intended for display purposes.  The first post linked below indicates the signal is available on TSTPT_4.  Following TSTPT_4 from the DLP board (http://www.ti.com/lit/df/tidrcg8/tidrcg8.pdf) shows the signal should be available on TP2.  Is this correct?  I do not see signal on the scope.  I would appreciate any information you are able to provide that would help to achieve this goal.

Thank you,

Zach

  • Hello Zach,

Thanks for your interest in this platform and your questions. Using the latest TI.COM project (V6.1.0), you should see external VSYNC on TP2 test point.  Can you please check what version of the SW that you are using?

It'd also help us to understand your application. Are you working on any type of 3D sensing/scanning application? This platform today is primarily designed for display applications but we are exploring options to extend this to additional use cases. Your feedback will be appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Hello Srik,

The 3010 EVM is being used in a structured light 3D scanning application and also in a structured light microscopy project.  This particular EVM happens to be the projector that was on hand and it is likely another would be selected in the future.  For now the 3010 will get us up and running.

After updating the 3010 firmware to v6.0 and software to release 6.1 there is now a 1.8V sync signal on TP2 of the main board.  Is this what you would expect?

    Thank you for your help.

    Sincerely,

    Zach

  • Zach,

You are correct. This is the expected behavior for the firmware version.
