Linux/DLP3010: dlp3010 can't work with Vbais fall down

Part Number: DLP3010
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC3438, DLPA2005

Tool/software: Linux

in my system,

we found my dmd can display the really color when use the dlpc's tset pattern(such as aolor bars, as follow pircture).

and can display the really color when use external video port (Parallel Interface,RGB24, when R=0x00,GB=any value)

and can display the really color when use external video port (Parallel Interface,RGB24, when R=0xee or bigger,GB=0x0000)

but can't  display the really color with stripes (as follow picture), when use external video port (Parallel Interface,RGB24, when R=0x88 or smaller,GB=0x0000)

  • Jianyuan,

It sounds like you are saying that your system appears to be working fine except for the case of a solid color field. Is this correct?

Have you tested a solid red field using internal DLPC pattern? If so, does the system still display the color nonlinearity? If not, then you probably have a problem in your external video interface.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you are able to perform further tests on this system.

  • 1. i have try the test with my fpga supply the external rgb signals and useing the dlp3010 evm's optical machine.
    it's have the same problem.

    2. i also have the test with imternal dlpc's red-solid-pattern, it's no problem.
and,i think the pattern is rgb=0xff0000.
but, with my fpga's external rgb=0xee0000 or bigger, it's no problem also.

    3. could you do the test for me with rgb=0x770000, i think it's only a dmd's bug,ha-ha.
  • i have a test today and find out that:
when i use the dlpc internal source(Write the Input Source Select (Register:05h)to (1h: Test Pattern Generator))
    and i set the Test Pattern Select (Register:0Bh) to { 0x1(Fixed step horizontal ramp) 0x10(Red) 0x40(star) 0x40(end) 0x80 0x80 }
i find out the same red stripe as the above picture.
so i think, our fpga has no problem.
something is wrong with dlpc or dmd.
    thanks a lot.
  • Jianyuan,

Thanks for your attention. Please let me know if I can assist further.

  • dlpc3438.7zi have do the test and proved that the dmd is ok.

so i think something is wrong with sub-ldvs or the NOR-FLASH's image.

could u help me to do the test again?

my system is design with DLP3010FQK, DLPA2000DYFFR and DLPC3438CZEZ.

    best regards.

  • hi, my project is very urgency.

help me to resolve it. i think something is wrong with NOR-FLASH's image(FILEs:dlpc3438.7z) or sub-lvds.

pls you to try a test with you system (DLP3010FQK, DLPA2000DYFFR,DLPC3438CZEZ and image of dlpc3438.7z.)

the problem is listed as follow.

when i use the dlpc internal source(Write the Input Source Select (Register:05h)to (1h: Test Pattern Generator))

    and  set the Test Pattern Select (Register:0Bh) to { 0x1(Fixed step horizontal ramp) 0x10(Red) 0x40(star) 0x40(end) 0x80 0x80 }

also, you can set the color as green(0x20) or blue(0x30).

we find out two problems, as follow picture.

    1)  all of the color is not displayed with Fixed Step Horizontal Ramp(not digital step down),

but is analog step down without the clear strips.

but this problem is not important, i think is only a internal setting of the dlpc.

    2) the important problem is my issue question.

when use the red color, you can clearly find out the dmd is separated by two parts.

but the green or the blue is ok.

  • Jianyuan,

Thanks for your patience. I will try to test this firmware image to provide feedback ASAP.

  • thk u very much.
and i waiting for your good news.
  • hi,philippe,
    what's the result?
    thanks a lot.
  • hi philippe,
i have visited the ti's shanghai office.
kevin shi give me some new images to try to resolve the problem.
and it's very sorry, it's cann't work ok still.

but, kevin's image can work ok with your evm board
    (the evm is dlp3438+dlpa2005+DLP3010FQK).
but my two systems all are cann't work ok.
    (my old system is DLPC3438CZEZ+DLPA2000DYFFR+DLP3010FQK).
    (my new system is DLPC3438CZEZ+DLPA2000DYFFR+DLP3010AFQK).
i have replaced the dmd because the old one is NRND.

so,pls your to check the image must with DLPA2000DYFFR.
and i find out something is different between DLP3010FQK and DLP3010AFQK,
so,pls your to check the image must with DLP3010AFQK.

and it's very strange,my system cann't reappear the same error pattern as the above picture,
regardless of useing the every version of image from kevin or Navneet.

i think may be i have switched the dmd(DLP3010AFQK)?
or the LOOKs(write parameters) or somethings have be changed in my flash or in the dlpc ?
  • Jianyuan,

After some delays, I was able to set up a system to match your system configuration.

Using the provided dlpc3438 firmware that you provided, I was able to reproduce the issue you are seeing. As such, I believe the issue you are seeing lies with your firmware, not with your hardware. Where did you get this firmware? I recommend you use a fresh firmware installation.

I will investigate the issue further now before giving you more detailed information regarding the root cause of the issue.

    Best Regards,
    Philippe Dollo

  • Jianyuan,

I'd like to add you as a contact on E2E so that I can follow up on this issue with you directly and provide a new firmware for you to use. Can you please accept and message me on private conversation when you do?

    Best Regards,
    Philippe Dollo
