Hello,
I have a key customer developing hardware for intrinsically safe situations (explosive environments). They require the following information from TI regarding the TMS320VC5509 DSP, to complete their qualification.
Q: Does the TMS320VC5509 have any switching regulators, voltage doublers or charge pumps on-chip?
If so, what maximum voltages are present, both positive and negative?
If so, are any of these connected to external pins or metallic surfaces on the DSP?
BTW the technical forums are an inappropriate channel for DFAE -> TI dialogue, and for initial requests, for many reasons.PL contacts in ESP were far better and this system is a step backwards in TI support.
Thanks

I am checking it out.

Andrew,
I am moving this to the internal TI forum. You can use that for further requests.

The TMS320VC5509 does not have any switching regulators, voltage doublers or charge pumps on-chip. However, we are not completely sure if the device can be used in explosive environments. We will forward the query to the quality team to make sure and get back to you.
Hello Andrew,
I apologize for moving the post...it's back on the external forum now. I inadvertently thought you were a TI DFAE and had access to the internal forum.
I am sorry to hear that you feel the forum is an inappropriate communication channel. We constantly monitor the forum and aim to respond to all requests within 24 hours. If you have more feedback about the forum I would suggest posting it on the E2E News and Site Support forum.

We consulted our quality expert and here is the reply from him:
I think the customer will have to make their own judgment on using the device in an explosive environment. If they have specific questions that would help them make their judgment (chemical content, reliability testing, etc.), we can answer those.
