Information in using (programming) Audio Codec in C5502?

Im starting a project that will use the audio codec in TMS320C5502. I ve searched the technical reference from TI site and couldnt found any detailed information about how the audio codec works, and the functions associated with it.

Is there any reference or start point to work with it? I was thinking in looking trough the libraries and trying to figure out what they do, but that d be the hard way...

Hi Diedre,

Are you referring to the codec chip on on of the C5502 boards? The C5502 does not have an on-chip audio codec.

C5502 Evaluation Module

The Spectrum Digital Support Pages for these boards have sample code to exercise each audio codec.

Other codec documents are available on TI.com.

Basically, you configure the codec with I2C register writes, then you read from the codec with I2S/McBSP.

Once you are familiar, you can adapt the CSL McBSP examples to read communicate with the codec
