How to resolve driver issue for C5510 DSP board in CCS V6 (Win 7)?

Dear Engineers,

We are using DSK5510 embedded system for Audio Signal Processing course in our lab in school.

Since CCS v3.1 does not have any support for win7, we upgraded to CCS v6.

We have followed the following tutorial to debug a project,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJa1wiKBipw

Though we followed the steps are we found the error informing "load failed by this driver" type message.

Please kindly note that for "Connection" in new project wizard, I used "Spectrum Digital DSK-EVM-ezdsp onboard USB emulator".

In debug window, the connect target is disabled. Please advise how can we resolve the connection issue?

Thanks and have a great day!

  • Hi,

Please go through the below post. Hope this helps resolve your issue.

  • Hi Vasanth,

Thanks for your kind reply! But I am testing very simple Hello World before trying the original code that we use in V3.1.

    1. We could not get connection with the board to V6. What debug prob should we use for DSK5510?

    2. Should we need to update the "DSK5510.ccxml"?

I think our questions is generic question and I am stuck it very primary level.

Thank you very much for your time and have a great day!

  • Hi,

Similar issue was reported on e2e sometimes back with respect to CCS6 & DSK5510 connection issues. Let us know whether the below post helps.

  • Dear Vasanth,

I have checked the link and the issue.

    1. We want to compile / debug "hello world" program after starting the CCS V6

    2. It clearly says about the driver issue for this device. So we thought this is surely a connection issue as also in debug scree all buttons are grayed

    3. At this point, without resolving the connection problem we did not update BIOS.

This is really important for Audio Processing Lab now in University. So can I get some documentation help on step by step process for CCS v6 for DSK 5510?

Moreover, if you think JTAG extension connector may solve the issue them please also let us know how to get as we only used onboard usb emulator in CCS 3.1.

I think you can help us to close this issue.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

I tried with both with onboard emulator and external Blackhawk USB560 JTAG Emulator using CCS6.1.0 version.

I was able to successfully connect using both internal and external  emulator. Below is the snapshot for your reference.

I do not see any issue in connection may be you want to try with external emulator just incase if your onboard emulator is not working on your DSK. Other than the one suggest above, spectrum digital also suggest other emulators. Please go through the FAQ section in the following link.  - http://c5000.spectrumdigital.com/files/dsk5x_faq.html#1.3

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Vasanth,

We are only trying the ezdsp onboard USB emulator.

Once I create an project and go to "DSK5510.ccxml" I can see the "Connection" and select the "Board on Device" but can not test connection after saving the file.

We could not replicate what you did in your machine but we should be able to do it.

May be because of the connection problem. It says about the enumeration problem.

I am trying attach the screen shot but attachment not supported.

Please kindly help us to resolve this issue.

You can call me at 347-741-2672 anytime as this is a very urgent issue for us.

Thanks and have a great day!
