[C5535] USB Oscillator

Guru 24520 points

Hi community member,

Please let me confirm the following question.

[Question]
When my customer would like to use the USB oscillator(12.288MHz) in order to input this signle to the audio codec, is there any problem for the operation to supply only the power for USB_VDDOSC except for other USB power domain? At this time, other domains which are related to USB will be connect to GND.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best regards.
Kaka

  • Hi Kaka-san,

Could you please further elaborate on the requirements here. It would help us to understand better and answer back.

  • Hi Vasanth,

    Thank you for your comments.
I made the picture which it is explained about system block and question.
If you have more question for this topics, I will explain my question in detail.

    Best regards.

  • Hi Kaka-san,

In C5535 to minimize power consumption, the device divides its circuits into main isolated supply domains:

     • LDOI (LDOs and Bandgap Power Supply)

    • Analog POR, SAR, and PLL (VDDA_ANA and VDDA_PLL) (2)

    • RTC Core (CVDDRTC)

    • Digital Core (CVDD)

    • USB Core (USB_ VDD1P3 and USB_VDDA1P3)

USB PHY and USB PLL (USB_VDDOSC, USB_VDDA3P3, and USB_VDDPLL)

    • RTC I/O (DVDDRTC)

    • Rest of the I/O (DVDDIO)

USB_VDDOSC is in domain USB PHY and USB PLL , this also has USB_VDDA3p3 and USB_VDDPLL.

With respect to your question on supplying only USB_VDDOSC and rest of the power supply to be switched OFF. Again this scenario has not been verified & characterized ( one supply USB_VDDOSC) so this is not the suggested option.

Other than the specified low power modes (in Datasheet) there isn’t characterized data and needs thorough testing at customer end.

    Hope this clarifies.

    Regards

    Vasanth
