JTAG error connecting to the target

If you suspect the emulator then XDS100 wiki is a good resource for debugging your XDS100 emulator: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/XDS100

I tried connecting usbstk5505 with onboard XDS100 emulator and I was successful. I used CCS6 version.

I have just tried the test code and demo example and the error shows up when connecting with the target no matter what is the project/program to load.

I tested the JTAG connection with the kit using XDS100v1 and XDS100v2 USB Emulator (the one I always used) and it seems it succeeded as you can see on this page http://pastebin.com/7rff5cPW 

It seems to be a problem with the board. I used this kit normally for one year and I also burned the flash using EZDSP Programming Tool a couple of times and suddenly it started to stop working.

I really don't know what happened. Just wondering: if, by chance, when burning a program into the flash memory using this EZDSP Tool I pointed to the wrong file (e.g. .out file instead of .hex), what would happen to the kit?

Besides that, if you have a way to recover my kit, I would appreciate.

Can you clean up the boot image file from respective peripherals using clean.bin (available in programmer example - from CSL package) and try re-loading the demo.bin and check ?

Sorry, I don't know where to find clean.bin and demo.bin. I downloaded the Test Code and Demo from support.spectrumdigital.com/.../revb but there is no clean.bin or demo.bin there or in the CCSv6 installation directory.

You can download and install the CSL package C55XCSL-LOWPOWER from the link - http://www.ti.com/tool/sprc133

Programmer example exists in the path - <>\c55_lp\c55_csl_3.04\c55xx_csl\ccs_v5.0_examples\programmer - clean.bin exists here.

EZ_Demo.bin exists in spectrum digital link  support.spectrumdigital.com/.../revb  in demo folder. There also exists a readme.txt file which explains the details on programming the demo example.

OK. Now I found the files you meant. But look, how do I "clean up the boot image file from respective peripherals using clean.bin"? Remember that when I launch the CCS Debug mode and make a JTAG connection try, I received that error "C55xx: Error connecting to the target: (Error -1143 @ 0x5F) Device core was hung". So, if I need to write anything via JTAG to the C5505, I am currently unable. Actually, that is exactly what I want to recover. Did you follow me?

Yes, It wouldn't work .This requires JTAG connection to be up.

Hi,

Are you sure you have burnt the wrong image in the SPI EEPROM?

If so, you then try to disable SPI ( initially by driving chip select to inactive state or by disabling the SPI clock ) until you get connected to JTAG.

The above mentioned might required hardware changes so need to handle this carefully.

This way, If you could get JTAG work , then follow my earlier told procedure to load clean image.
