12 MHz USSB Crystal as CLKIn for C5535

Hi, I have 2 questions regarding C5535 Clock : 1) Is it possible to use USB 12 MHz crystal signal as CLKIn for the C5535 rather than an external oscillator ? What are the limits for such as solution ? 2) Is it then possible to power ON and OFF this USB 12 MHz oscillator to save power when the DSP in IDLE 3 mode (ie, when DSP is running using the 32, 768 KHz crystal). Thanks. Nicolas Thanks
  • Hi,

Below are my response for your Questions:

A1. Looks this is not possible. You need to use an external oscillator. Reason – There most likely exists a deadlock condition with bootloader.

Further you could refer to C5535 eZDSP schematics (on these aspects).

    A2. This depends on A1.
