[C5535] Confirm whether C5535 can Boot with customer's method

Guru 24520 points

Hi community member,

Please provide your advice about boot of C5535.

Now my customer needs to programmed the eMMC on factory line. But  normal applications using CCS or UART will not suit for mass production.  So, tthey thought two ways for boot. Would you please check whether  customer can use the both methods?

  No.1

  1. C5535 boot from UART.
  2. Transfer the application image to internal memory(eMMC) via USB or SD card.

  No.2

  1. Make test board which C5535 and SPI Flash(Serial Nor Flash) used and SPI Flash can be separated from this board.
  2. Write the boot file to SPI flash via JTAG using the CCS
  3. Separated the SPI Flash
  4. SPI Flash connects the production board
  5. Copy the application image to internal memory(eMMC)
  6. Disconnect the SPI flash from production board.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best regards.

Kaka

  • Hi Kaka-san,

I believe you meant internal memory (eMMC) to be on your custom board. eMMC is not part Internal memory in C5535 device.

Below are my response to your methods.

    On #1.

Yes this is possible, But no prior valid boot image should exists in eMMC.

    On #2.

    Yes this also looks possible.

But I would like to also mention that we do not have respective software to take care of the above and we haven’t performed the above mentioned methods.

    Hope this clarifies.
