TMS320C5517: IO voltage

Hi,

I have a question about VC5506 and C5517.

Our customer are using VC5506 on their system.
But they are planning to replace from VC5506 to C5517 and they have question about C5517 I/O voltage.
They want to supply 3.0V to C5517 DVDD(I/O voltage)

In their system, other external devices need 3.0V.
So,they are also supplying 3.0V for VC5506 I/O voltage(DVDD).
3.0V is in the range of VC5506 DVDD(Device supply voltage), so there are no problem.
VC5506 DVDD range is 2.7V - 3.6V.

If they replace to C5517, can they still use 3.0V for C5517 I/O voltage?

From datasheet of C5517, I/O voltage is 1.8V/2.75V/3.3V.
But 3.0V is in the range of each 2.75V and 3.3V.

2.75V range is "2.48V - 3.02V".
3.3V range is "2.97V - 3.63V.

best regards,
g.f.

  • Hi,

It should be possible, the 3.3 variant of the DVDD suplly ranges from 2.97 to 3.63V, see 5.2 Recommended Operating Conditions from C5517 Data Manual:

However, I'd recommend, if possible to change their design so that they use the typical 3.3V for DVDD.

    Best Regards,
