CCS/TMS320C5535: c5535-eZdsp Connect Target

I've just unpacked my shiney new C5535 eZdsp kit and...

a). Just tested the C5535 eZdsp demo. Check, that works okay.

b). Proceeded to section 5.0 of the "quick start guide" and installed CCS Version: 4.2.4.00033. Check, that runs up okay.

c). Removed the micro-SD card and proceeded to section 6.0 "CCS configuration instructions"...

...only to fall over at "Target -> Connect Target" with...

C55xx: Error connecting to the target: (Error -600 @ 0x0) A required dynamic library could not be located. The library isn't on the search path. (Release 5.0.429.0)

I'm capable of following simple instructions, so I'm a bit mystified as to why this "out of the box" kit should fail so simply.

I'm thoroughly fed up and dispirited. Please help me fix this and make me feel a lot better.

Okay, I've resolved that issue. It helps if I read ALL of the instructions, and in particular I connect to J2 as well :0|

Now my issue is "Error initializing emulator".

Hi Lalinda,

Thanks for getting back to me. In answer to your question, no, I don't have the option for "Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Debug Probe" only "Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Emulator"

These are my target settings, and I can now connect to the target.

...but my problem is...

whenever I launch "Debug Active Project".

Is my CCS out of date ?

Not sure if this is related to CCS being out of date. However, if you are using CCS v4, I would highly recommend upgrading to CCSv7.2 which is the current latest version http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS. I don't see "Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Emulator" as an option in my CCSv7.2 installation.

Is this where its failing now? Apologies for the trouble you are having with the board.

Hi Lalindra,

Problem solved.

I decided to uninstall ccs4 and do a complete re-install of the "platinum" install to a different location to that of the default install path ("Program Files (x86)...).

Now everything works fine, and a I can run a couple of the test programs (led, lcd-osd9616).

So now my DSP journey can begin. Wish me luck.
