TMS320C5535: The unsigned TI USB Boot loader driver provided for C55xx DSP no longer works with latest updates of Windows 10 (driver is C55xx_USB_EP_64.sys)

Part Number: TMS320C5535

More recent  Updates of MS Windows 10 no longer support the use of unsigned drivers at all. We now need a signed driver since all of our PCs are now Win 10.

Will TI provide a signed driver in the near future?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Jim

  • Hello Tsvetolin,

Any word yet regarding  whether a signed driver is in the works for the TMS320C55XX family of devices.

    Thanks,

    Jim

  • Hi Jim,

We have no plan to sign the C55x related driver for USB booting. You can get around this issue by disable the digital signing during the Win10 boot. Please google it for details. I have tried it. It works properly.

    Best regards,

    Ming
  • Hello Ming,

Yes, disabling driver signing had been working on Win 10 machines for us until our PCs were updated to Win10 build 1803. Have you tried this with build 1803 or higher? I have also included the link to the Microsoft's latest driver signing policy which no longer allows the use of unsigned drivers.

    ***
    Microsoft Driver Signing Policy
Starting with new installations of Windows 10 version 1607, Windows will not load any new kernel mode drivers which are not signed by the Dev Portal.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../kernel-mode-code-signing-policy--windows-vista-and-later-
    ***

This has now become a big issue for us since our corporate policy requires us to move to all Win10 PCs (with the latest Windows updates applied for security purposes).

    Thanks, and please advise,

    Jim
  • Ming,

Just checking back to see if to see if you had a chance to Identify the WIN 10 Version / update build you were testing the USB Boot loader driver on (or were able to test on Win 10 version >= 1607,  / Build >= 1803). We have 3 Win 10 PCs now that the boot loader no longer works on even with driver signing disabled. It seems like more customers will be running into to this issue as they migrate to later Win 10 versions. As  I mentioned we are forced to move to WIN 10 PCs with the latest updates, (so reverting to back to previous updates or moving back to Win 7 is not an option for us).

    Thanks, and please advise ASAP,

    Jim
