TMS320C5517: Qestions about power consumption for C5517

Part Number: TMS320C5517

Hi,

I have qestions about power consumption for C5517.

Q1: Please tell me the way to display total current consumption of the chip for the C5517_PowerSpreadsheet.xlsm.
It seems that the spreadsheet is broken.

Q2: What is the curren(mA) and power(mW) in the IDLE2 mode?

Best regards,

It seems that the spreadsheet is broken.

The value for the CHIP TOTAL cells calculated with this formula:

    =IF(AN242 ="mA","Not applicable",SUM(U242,Y242,Z242,AA242,AD242,AG242,AH242,AI242,AJ242,AN7))

So, if you select mA instead of mW, then the CHIP TOTAL is always "Not applicable". This must be because the CHIP TOTAL uses volts and amps to calculate the power. It may not be useful to simply sum up the current without considering the voltage. But you can see the calculation above.

I was surprised IDLE2 was not provided as a MACRO.

I went ahead and filled out the spreadsheet for IDLE2. The key difference between IDLE3 and IDLE2 is that the PLL is not in BYPASS for IDLE2. The PLL VCO has a minimum frequency of 125MHz, so I used that number for the PLL frequency. In case you were wondering, the lowest SYSCLK speed with the 125MHz VCO and OD/ OD2 at their maximum is SYSCLK = 244.141 kHz. Slower speeds can be obtained with PLL in BYPASS.

I populated the spreadsheet for IDLE2 with lowest voltages and the voltages you provided in your screenshot. See below.

    Hope this helps,
    Mark
