STARTERWARE-C6DSP: Newbee to C6xxx and limited DSP background in general, mcasp audio starter example had weird output, has anyone seen this?

Part Number: STARTERWARE-C6DSP

Trying to get the PDF of the scope shot to insert correctly, sorry.

  • Finally! Ok, again, I am a newbee, trying to use the StarterWare DSP mcasp audio example on my C6748 LCDK board. I have tried right from the example, and using the version which makes it a TI-RTOS app from the Mindshare Advantage C6000 Workshop course I purchased. The top Yellow trace is the audio (sine wave) I am feeding to both left and right line in, and the other two traces are the left and right audio out. Not sure where to start. I have seen some posts that suggest the example does not work correctly as provide. Thanks much in advance to anyone who has any thoughts.
  • P.S. I should have said I am on CCS 7.4, Compiler 8.2.2, tirtos_c6000_2_00_01_23, xdctools_3_32_01_22

  • Hi,

I notified the starterware team. They will post their feedback directly here.

  • Leigh,

What is the intent of using Starterware on this device. If this is a Midshare training Project then I would reach out to Eric and Scott to help with the setup. Current TI policy is to support only MCASP LLD based application development.

As far as we know the McASP example in starterware is stable and has been used by many users. If you are running into issues, then it is likely due to your hardware setup. Are you connect the audio input to the Line IN port at the top of the connector and the output to the bottom port of the J10 connector?

    Regards,
    Rahul
  • Hi Rahul,

Thanks much for your advice. I did actually reach out to Eric. he was on the road, but was able to answer my questions. That combined with just taking my time working through my issues worked. As of just a little while ago, everything is now working fine and I have learned a lot in the process as wll.

    Best Regards,
    Leigh
