CDCE62005 clock IC getting heated up in TMS320C6670 Evaluation board

Hi,

I have encountered an issue in my evaluation board (tms320c6670). The CDCE62005 clock ICs (two of them) are getting heated up instantly whenever power is supplied to the board. I don't know whether this issue has been caused recently or it is happening from the beginning (I just happened to check it recently). Is this a normal thing? Is it the fact that the CDCE ICs heat up while in use or is there something wrong with the board?

Hi Hardik,

There is nothing wrong with your board. The CDCE62005 does use a significant amount of power. Since they do not have heat sinks, they are the hottest components on the board.
